Musicans Frikki Walker, Steven McIntyre and Eilidh Harris are an indispensable part of life at St Mary’s, but did you know that Frikki is also a singer or that Eilidh is an accomplished flautist or that Steven is a founding member of Sowne of Organe? No? Now read on.
Frikki Walker, Director of Music, St Mary’s Cathedral
An award-winning choral conductor as well as being an organist, singer and composer, Frikki has been Director of Music at St Mary’s Cathedral, Glasgow since 1996. Under his leadership the choir has gained an international reputation through their many broadcasts on Radio and TV.
In addition to his duties at St Mary’s, Frikki has conducted most of the prestigious choirs in Scotland, including choirs for the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, the Royal School of Church Music and the National Youth Choir of Scotland.
An accomplished organist, Frikki has given recitals in parish churches, concert halls and cathedrals all over Britain and in Europe. As a composer, he has written a huge range of choral music and choral arrangements, several of which have been broadcast on Radio and TV, and sung and played in schools, churches and cathedrals all over the world.
